Alif – a fusion of Urdu / Kashmiri poetry with contemporary music, won “Best Music Video” for their latest single ‘Lalnawath’ at the 8th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival held at New Delhi on 30th April 2018.
Dada Saheb Phalke Award is India’s highest award in cinema. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
A poet, singer-songwriter and co-founder of Alif, Mohammad Muneem Nazir is a spectacular, confident man, full of grace and musical sparkle. With genuine spirituality and deep wisdom, he is a true Sufi.
Alif’s lyrics are hard-hitting and are known to strike a chord with powerful meanings and a strong, undefeated tone. In 2017, Alif won Indian Recording Arts Award (IRAA) for their single “Like a Sufi” with their producers Ashish Manchanda and Aman Moroney.
In February 2017, they released their debut album “Sufayed” and are currently working on new film projects and their second album.
Alif is signed under Springboard Records, a division of Boon Castle Media & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. Springboard Records is a genre and language agnostic label to define the new language of global music.
